What is CellBackup? CellBackup is a mobile software application that automatically backs up all of your contacts, ringtones, pictures, wallpapers, music and videos – no data cables required. (Version 3.0 required for full content) The cellbackup.com website allows you to manage all your content as well as edit, import and print your contacts. [Back to top] Will CellBackup run on my phone? CellBackup is available for over 100 phones. For the complete list of supported devices, click here. [Back to top] How do I back up my phone? CellBackup will automatically backup up your contacts based on your AutoBackup settings. Initially, the application will be set to backup your data weekly, between 12:00 pm and 6:00 am. However, DataGuard will enable you to customize your auto-backup settings. The options for automatic backup are daily, weekly, and monthly. You may update your settings at any time by selecting Setup -> Auto Backup from the Main Menu. [Back to top] What data can I back up? CellBackup Version 3.0 and higher will protect your contacts, pictures, wallpaper, music, ringtones and videos depending on your phone. To view the exact data your phone is backing up, launch CellBackup and go to Setup->Data Options. CellBackup Versions 1 and 2 will protect contacts only. To check your application version, launch CellBackup on your mobile phone and select ‘About’ from the main menu. [Back to top] What data can I not back up? CellBackup is unable to back up games or any items that are permanently stored on your phone – such as ringers. To view the data your phone is backing up, go to Setup->Data Options (please note that this feature is only on CellBackup version 3.0 and higher. Earlier versions only back up contacts). [Back to top] Can I decide what data I want backed up? Yes. From the application’s main menu, select Setup -> Data Options (note: only applies to CellBackup version 3.0 and higher). This screen provides a list of data that can be protected from your phone. If you do not wish to automatically back up certain content, simply uncheck the box before the name and that data will be ignored. To keep you completely protected, we recommend you always back up all the data stored on your phone. [Back to top] I have version 3. Why isn't all my data getting backed up? To see what content types your phone can back up, launch CellBackup on your mobile phone and select Setup -> Data Options. Items listed on this screen can be protected by your device. Check the boxes for the items you wish to back up. [Back to top] How do I restore my data? To restore your data, you must first download CellBackup to your replacement phone. For download instructions, click here. Launch CellBackup on your phone and login with you phone number and PIN. Select the restore option to add your saved contacts to your replacement phone. [Back to top] Do I have to repurchase CellBackup to restore/transfer my data? Yes. If you had a subscription plan, you will need to re-purchase the subscription on your new phone, and the subscription on your old phone will automatically be terminated when it is deactivated. If you bought CellBackup through a one time-fee, that fee covers the life of that particular phone. To restore your data you will need to repurchase the application either through a one-time fee or a subscription. [Back to top] I restored my content to a new phone. Why am I missing some of my contacts? Verify that all of your contacts have a name and one of the following numbers – a work phone, home phone, or cell phone. Often a phone will not allow a contact to be entered if it does not have a name and one of those common phone number fields. You can view your contacts by logging into CellBackup.com Make sure that your new phone supports all of the content types that your old phone did. You can check this on your new phone by going to Setup->Data Options. If your old phone backed up videos, but your new phone does not have a videos option, then videos will not be restored to your new phone. [Back to top] |
