How do I back up my phone?

CellBackup  will automatically backup up your contacts based on your AutoBackup settings. Initially, the application will be set to backup your data weekly, between 12:00 pm and 6:00 am. However, DataGuard  will enable you to customize your auto-backup settings. The options for automatic backup are daily, weekly, and monthly. You may update your settings at any time by selecting Setup -> Auto Backup from the Main Menu.

What data can I back up?

CellBackup Version 3.0 and higher will protect your contacts, pictures, wallpaper, music, ringtones and videos depending on your phone.  To view the exact data your phone is backing up, launch CellBackup and go to Setup->Data Options.  CellBackup Versions 1 and 2 will protect contacts only.  To check your application version, launch CellBackup on your mobile phone and select ‘About’ from the main menu.

What data can I not back up?

CellBackup is unable to back up games or any items that are permanently stored on your phone – such as ringers.  To view the data your phone is backing up, go to Setup->Data Options (please note that this feature is only on CellBackup version 3.0 and higher.  Earlier versions only back up contacts).

Can I decide what data I want backed up?

Yes. From the application’s main menu, select Setup -> Data Options (note: only applies to CellBackup version 3.0 and higher). This screen provides a list of data that can be protected from your phone. If you do not wish to automatically back up certain content, simply uncheck the box before the name and that data will be ignored. To keep you completely protected, we recommend you always back up all the data stored on your phone.

I have version 3. Why isn't all my data getting backed up?

To see what content types your phone can back up, launch CellBackup on your mobile phone and select Setup -> Data Options.  Items listed on this screen can be protected by your device.  Check the boxes for the items you wish to back up.

Do I have to repurchase CellBackup to restore/transfer my data?

Yes.  If you had a subscription plan, you will need to re-purchase the subscription on your new phone, and the subscription on your old phone will automatically be terminated when it is deactivated.  If you bought CellBackup through a one time-fee, that fee covers the life of that particular phone.  To restore your data you will need to repurchase the application either through a one-time fee or a subscription.

I restored my content to a new phone.  Why am I missing some of my contacts?

Verify that all of your contacts have a name and one of the following numbers – a work phone, home phone, or cell phone.  Often a phone will not allow a contact to be entered if it does not have a name and one of those common phone number fields.  You can view your contacts by logging into CellBackup.com

I restored my content to a new phone.  Why am I missing some of my other content?

Make sure that your new phone supports all of the content types that your old phone did.  You can check this on your new phone by going to Setup->Data Options.  If your old phone backed up videos, but your new phone does not have a videos option, then videos will not be restored to your new phone.

What is my username?

For subscribers using version 3.0 or higher (start application and select “About” to see version), your username is your phone number including area code. For people not using version 3.0, launch CellBackup and go to Settings->Account Info. The first line is your chosen username.
